TES staff were retained to gain environmental permit approvals for the Redding Wakeboard and Ski Park located north of Anderson, in Shasta County, California. The project involved a 20-acre aggregate mine to be reclaimed as a recreational facility. TES staff prepared applications for two Shasta County Use Permits and a Reclamation Plan in compliance with the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA). TES staff conducted a Biological Resources Evaluation, Wetland Delineation and Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetle Survey in support of the permit applications and coordinated the completion of botanical, noise and geomorphic evaluations by other consulting firms. Environmental permit applications were also prepared and ushered through the permitting processes. The project was approved by the Shasta County Planning Commission, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Game, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, allowing the project to begin in 2004.
